Um Solo (Tiago Guedes, 2002)
The Current Dance & Film Centre was launched in the 2006-2007 season with the aim of consolidating the “research” activities of La Cinémathèque de la Danse.
It is chiefly interested in young contemporary dance troupes and emerging acts that may not be accessible or risk going unnoticed. Popular dance, from hip-hop to rave battles, also fall within its remit.
The Current Dance & Film Centre also catalogues experimental films, fictional films and artists’ videos. Such works juxtapose questions on the state of the body in movement, on composition and rhythm, and highlight the ever-changing expression of contemporary issues.
Its aim is to assemble all these images and show them at regular screenings starting in 2007.
